Münsterland Guest Farm & Camping| Ugab Terrace Namibia
Münsterland Guest Farm & Camping is located a mere 30km from Outjo on the Khorixas Road (C39). Ideally located on your way to the Vingerklip area or on your way to the Etosha National Park, Münsterland offers a unique Namibian experience.
Join Dan-Jan Weakly on his morning drive to the cattle kraal and learn what Namibian farmers have to do in a very arid landscape to farm successfully. Dan-Jan is a true Namibian child with several generations of farmers before him and offers an interesting perspective on the area and farming landscape.
The secret ingredient to Münsterland Guest Farm & Camping isn’t Dan-Jan’s knowledge and love for the area though. It is when one returns famished from the viewpoint that Anita’s home-cooked meals will leave you craving for more.
Adventure Awaits at Münsterland Guest Farm & Camping
Münsterland is more than just a farm. Located on the edge of the Ugab Terrace, it is the heart of adventure. Hikers, mountain bikers and even cave dwellers have hours of exploration here. And when the rain comes, the natural dams fill up, and even a fishing rod is of use.
Hiking or cycling on the edge of the Ugab Terrace in the morning stillness, is an experience like no other. But standing in the pitch-black cave several meters underground is something I will not forget. The quiet down in the cave is deafening while you try to see your hand right in front of your face.
Accommodation at Münsterland Guest Farm & Camping
Münsterland Guest Farm consists of four self-catering chalets, but guests have the option to enjoy breakfast and dinner at the farmhouse. (Highly recommended!) Each chalet is equipped with a twin (that is made into a double), a fully equipped kitchen with a stove, and a fridge and kitchen equipment for two people. A lovely porch with views on the Ugab Terrace ensures many early morning coffees and Anita’s delicious homemade rusks. Each chalet has an ensuite shower and toilet. What more do you need?
The campsites are located a bit to the back and offer showers, a braai (barbecue area) and solar power.
Münsterland Guest Farm as a Wedding & Elopement Venue
Münsterland’s quaint chapel and beautiful hall are ideal for smaller, intimate weddings. Built for their own children’s weddings, a lot of love and detail went into these buildings.
But for those looking to elope, I recommend the viewpoint right on the edge of the Ugab Terrace valley. Windy and often a little dusty, there are not a lot of scenes that consistently leave me breathless.
Three Things to do while staying at Münsterland Guest Farm & Camping
Besides the activities offered at Münsterland, there are a few must-dos in the area.
- Drive through to Outjo for the day. Outjo Bakkery has a delightful variety of pastries, top-notch coffees and a lively atmosphere. Just across the street, is a fantastic Curio Shop to stock up on gifts for everyone back home. On your way back to Münsterland, make sure to stop at Crocodile Crossings just outside of town for an adventurous meeting with the crocodiles.
- Take a drive to Vingerklip and stop for lunch at Vingerklip Lodge.
- Okaukuejo is just 144km from Münsterland Guest Farm & Camping. Spend the day in the Etosha National Park and fill up on good coffee and more curios at Etosha Corner after a good day in the park.
