September
September is the first month of Spring in Namibia which means there is plenty of new growth and new life to focus on. Which should be a good enough reason to take plenty of photos? Right?
New Life or Growth is also the theme for Project September of our 365 WhatsApp Group. Remember to drop me a line should you feel the need to be inspired. Or just follow along here!
I recently moved into my new office/studio and I can honestly say that I am in love with my new space. With two large windows, the natural light is amazing – for both studio photos and plants! And plants are becoming a huge part of my daily routine.
So I thought it was only perfect to start September with two of my favourite things – glass and plants.
With the two large windows that came with my new office/studio, came another huge advantage. I finally have a space to put my bird baths and feeders. And I will be the first one to admit – my feathered friends can also be a huge distraction but at least they make beautiful photos!
Looks like I’m not the only one that likes my new office. I have a constant battle with this little guy to move his little buttocks. But then, if he does allow me to take photos while sitting at my desk, he can stay for another 5 minutes!

This little dude. Oh, my word he is difficult to photograph. If he doesn’t try to be funny, I get these looks…
The hair is just about never in place and there is always a spot of dirt… But then, this is my willing child.

Since it is September, we started gardening. I ripped out all the cacti in from of my office windows and put in a bird bath and a feeding station. Still not really sure what to do with the space, but for now, the birds are keeping me entertained through the window.
Bella.
I honestly never thought I’d grown to love this wild puppy as much as I do. In the beginning, she was wild. Like… Bella-in-the-fish-pond, all-my-fish-outside-wild. She bounces like Tigger dreamed he could. She licks. She does everything my sweet Penguin never did. And yet, and maybe because of the fact that she is my only dog now, I love her with all her quirks. And have learned to enjoy her presence as much as she craves for mine.
Yes, I love birds and I love to photograph them. My dream lens is an 800mm lens so that I can photograph them to my heart’s desire. They are also good models when the boys don’t feel like smiling which is happening more and more.
I honestly believe that cats are the most photogenic species on this earth. Just look at this lady?! I mean, really?! How does she get to be this beautiful?
My boy.
Man, the girl that wins his heart. But until then, he is mine!

This little trooper will probably cause us a water bill and a half very soon. No tap is ever untouched. If he can reach it, it’ll be opened. And of course, he is becoming more and more creative at reaching all the spots that I don’t necessarily want him to reach.
I honestly have a bit of a mental issue when it comes to taking creative photos or just photos in general when the weather is awful. My camera is permanently within arm’s length from me, I just don’t have the energy to actually use it.
Being Monday morning I decided quite early that today I will make an effort to actually take a photo.

If anyone has second-hand LEGO, this boy would love to take them off of your hands. I used to love LEGO. And I always dreamed of a LEGO castle with horses, knights and a dragon. But Rocco… every block goes. As long as it fits into his wild and creative designs, he loves it. But if it has gears, and can take a battery… his heart beats at triple the normal pace.

Making an effort to capture him more… in less than a month, my boy-child will be 8 years old.
What is it about him that just shouts “heartbreaker” ?! It’s like he knows he is just that man.
Alexander’s best buddy and Rocco’s friend. All-in-one photo, and also brothers.
Happy Birthday, Jaden!
For many many years, I have tried and failed my roses. I have lost a good many dollars on roses. Finally, I have not one, but two rose bushes that have chosen to survive. And boy, do I have a lot of photos as proof?!
Als is net vaal. Bruin. Grys.

And to try and test out all the new techniques I of course need a model…

In my desperate search for a bit of green, we ended up in a treehouse. Probably not the best place for someone with a fear of heights. And then I had to manage my littlest… what a challenge?! He has absolutely no fear and is as agile as any monkey out there.
